Orrin W. Van Ness

Orrin W. Van Ness, 97, of Clyde, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Riverview Nursing Home, Oak Harbor. Mr. Van Ness was born on October 10, 1914 in Hessville, Ohio to the now deceased Emmitt and Elizabeth (Spieldenner) Van Ness. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church; the Clyde VFW and American Legion and Eagles. Orrin served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. Mr. Van Ness was an accomplished woodworker. He made many crosses which he shared with the community. On June 3, 1940 he married Leona Keegan. She preceded him in death on July 13, 1981. Surviving are a son, Daniel Van Ness, Clyde; a daughter, Sandra Marshall, Bellevue; two granddaughters, Sonia Ruiz and Kim Marshall; and three great grandchildren, VanNessa Shapard; Daronte Alexander and Camdyn Marshall.His brother, Ken Van Ness survives in Sandusky. Orrin was preceded in death by his siblings; Lou Spieldenner; Jim Van Ness; Roy Van Ness; Earl Van Ness; Alberta Hotz; Mary Rufty; Midge Waldella; Elizabeth Nieset and Ethel Young.
