Mary Ann Guemelata

Mary Ann Guemelata, 94, of Bellevue, died Sunday, April 20, 2014 in Ashland. She was born March 13, 1920 in Bellevue to the late Rocco and Carmella "Nellie" (Baptista) Serraino. Mary Ann was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she had served on the Altar Rosary Society. She attended Immaculate Conception Schools and had worked at Apex and GE. She was a great friend to many. Always a listening ear, always quick witted, and never at a loss for a great recipe. On February 23, 1946 she married Charles F. Guemelata. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1999. Survivors include their son, Gary (Vickie) Guemelata of Ashland; grandchildren: Chrystie and Bryan (Carla); great-grandchildren: Sienna & Gemma; sisters: Josephine Silvani-Helm of Sandusky and Rose Stevens of Fremont; sister-in-law, Donna Serraino; nieces and nephews: Carol (Tony) Macleod; Mary Jo (Bruce) Popek; Michael Stevens; Patricia Hoffman; Roxanne Stevens; Linda Serraino; Steve Serraino; Ted Serraino; Mary Kaye (John) Gates; Danny (Jeannine) Fortunato; several great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bill and Maryee Braddock and Dan Sabo. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her siblings: Frances (Nick) Laviola; Joseph "Peno" Serraino; brothers-in-law: Richard Stevens; Deno Silvani; Mark Helm; and sisters-in-law: Jenny (Frederick) Radloff and Laura (Louie) Fortunato. A memorial mass for Mary Ann will be held 11:00am Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church. Auxter Funeral Home in Bellevue is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Father Bishop Scholarship Fund at Immaculate Conception School 231 East Center Street, Bellevue or the Bellevue Alumni Association Charles F. Guemelata Scholarship Fund at Bellevue High School 200 Oakland Avenue, Bellevue.
