Maria Loretta Garcia

Maria Loretta Garcia, 82, of Fremont, OH, passed away on August 15, 2026. She was born Maria Loretta Avalos on November 27, 1943, in Weslaco, TX to Narciso and Juanita (Rodriguez) Avalos. She married Edelmiro Garcia on November 6, 1993.

Maria was a spirited and thoughtful woman who brought joy and comfort to all who knew her. Her generous and compassionate nature was evident in every interaction she had and the love she had for her family.

A devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fremont, Maria put her faith into action by serving at church and offering help to those in need. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God," Matthew 5:8, is a verse that truly embodied Maria's spirit. She was a homemaker by profession and took pride in making her home a haven for her family and friends. Maria's hobbies included fishing, listening to music, playing Bingo, dancing, and going out to eat with her family. She was also a passionate dog lover, her pets being extensions of her warm and loving family.

Maria is survived by her children, Hipolita Urbina of Fremont, OH Joe Bocanegra of Fremont, OH, Beatriz Avalos of Clyde, OH, Angela Johnson of Fremont OH and Marcos Bocanegra of Fremont, OH; Stepchildren, Sonia Garcia, Norma Brockbrader, Edna Garcia, Elsa Schatzman, Lou Garcia, and Rick Garcia; Siblings, Conceptcion Hinojosa of Fremont, OH, Nicolasa Ray of Fremont, OH, Celia Ramirez of Fremont, OH, and Aniceto Avalos of Fremont, OH.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Edelmiro Garcia, her parents, Narciso and Juanita Avalos, her children, Anna Quinones and Anthony Garcia, her grandson, Benjamin Bocanegra, and her siblings, Arturo Avalos, Agripina Rincon, Alicia Rodriguez, and Anselmo Avalos, Anastacio Abalos, Crispina Rodriguez, Epifanio Avalos and Apolinar Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held 4:00pm-7:00pm, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 South Main Street, Clyde, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00am, Friday, August 21, 2026, at Auxter-Recker Funeral Home. Fr. Matthew Frisbee will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Fremont, OH. Memorial contributions in honor of Maria Loretta Garcia may be made to the funeral home to help cover funeral expenses.
