Luther P. Hirt

Luther P. Hirt, 86, formerly of Fremont, now of The Gardens of Clyde, died at Stein Hospice, Sandusky on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Mr. Hirt was born on March 1, 1928 to the now deceased Harold and Dorothy (Last) Hirt. He was a 1946 graduate of Townsend High School and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery. For many years, Luther was a body shop mechanic a various area auto dealers, including Ralph Tucker, Tod Motors and Don Paul. His favorite activities included boating and snowmobiling as well as playing cards. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. On November 1, 1947, he married Arline M. Meggitt. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2013. Survivors include a brother, William (Marian) Hirt, Sandusky, sister and brother-in-law, Walter and Evelyn Binger and sister-in-law, Aline Barr, all of Vickery. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.. Mr. Hirt was also preceded in death by two brothers, Warren (Pauline) Hirt and Roland (Doris)Hirt. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Gerhardt Gosnell officiating. Burial will be in Parkhurst Cemetery. Luther's family would like to thank the many people who cared for him, especially the staff at The Gardens of Clyde. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Vickery or to Stein Hospice.
