With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of James Todd Shroyer, lovingly known as Todd. Born on January 7, 1972, in Lima, OH, Todd was a beacon of light in everyone's lives, filled with humor and love. On December 26, 2025, Todd left us, but his memory lives on, as vibrant and warm as he was in life.
Todd was an adventurous spirit, always eager to explore the unknown, both in his personal life and in his professional endeavors. His career as a Cyber Security Engineer at Cardinal Health spanned over 15 years, demonstrating his dedication and unwavering commitment. He was humble about his accomplishments, always focusing more on the joy of his work than the recognition it brought. His love for computers was not just confined to his work; it was also a significant part of his hobbies. Todd also found immense joy in boating with his family, with whom he shared his love for life's simple pleasures.
Todd was a loving family man, deeply devoted to his wife, Heather Miller Smith, whom he married on April 15, 2017. He was also a proud father to Kaylib Shroyer and Bentley Miller and a caring step-father to Lilly Pizzuti. His heart held a special place for his mother, LaRie (John) Hull, his sister Cherie (Brian) Butz, step-sister, Consetta VI Leonard, half-brother Michael Shroyer, and half-sister Natalie Shroyer. His step-mother, Concetta (John) Maines, half-brother Gary Shroyer, and half-sister April Wensinger will remember him with fondness. Todd was preceded in death by his father, Chester Shroyer Jr., grandfather Chester Shroyer Sr., grandmothers Jean Pulfer and Mary McBride, and grandfather Raymond McBride Jr.
As Albert Einstein once said, "The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive." Todd was the embodiment of this quote, always giving love, laughter, and support to those around him. His funny side was infectious, always ready with a joke or a conspiracy theory to lighten the mood. Todd was a man of many qualities, but above all, he was a man of love and laughter, leaving a lasting impact on every life he touched.
Visitation will be 4-7pm, Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St, Bellevue, OH 44811 followed by a service of remembrance at 7pm.
We invite you to celebrate Todd's life by sharing your fondest memories and uploading photos of him to his memorial page. His story is not just in the past; it continues in the love and laughter he left behind. Let us remember Todd for the loving, funny, adventurous, and humble man he was, and let his memory continue to inspire us.
