Hollis Mcbroom Obituary (1945

Hollis McBroom, 71, of Clyde, died at Our Family Home, Dublin, Ohio on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Hollis was born in Haleyville, Alabama on February 16, 1945 to Dewey and Lurene (McNutt) McBroom. He was raised in Flat Rock, Ohio, graduating from Thompson High School in 1963. He attended Tiffin University. A Sargent in the US Marine Corps, he served two tours in Viet Nam, DaNang and Hue City, receiving the Purple Heart. Mr. McBroom retired in 1997 from the Sandusky County Sheriff Office as a Detective Capt. Hollis was a member of the Clyde VFW and affiliated with the Marine Corps League. On November 18, 1968, he married Laura Amanat. She, along with their children, Dan (Karen) McBroom of Clyde; Laura (Nick) Lopez of Delaware; Holly (Bob) Schwartz of Toledo and Michael (Autumn) McBroom of Sheffield,Ohio all survive. Twelve grandchildren, and three great grandchildren also survive. His brother, Eugene (Louise) McBroom of Harington, VA and sister-in-law, Madge "Butch" McBroom of Bellevue also survive. Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marie Stetler and twin brother, Otis McBroom. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 3-7:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Ed Schleter officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery with military rites provided by the Clyde American Legion and VFW. Memorials may be made to the Clyde Food Pantry or the Lewy Body Dementia : 2500 N.
