Harlan "Fred" Ezra Frederick Obituary (1933

Harlan "Fred" Ezra Frederick, age 79, passed away at Concord Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio, on Monday, August 19, 2013. With a deep passion and appreciation for life, he lived every day to its fullest even during his lengthy illness. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 19, 1933 in Bellevue, Ohio to Ezra and Anna (Decker) Frederick. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1951. He joined the Navy in 1952. On November 20, 1954 he married Joanna Cook, his loving wife of 58 years. He was hired on the Nickel Plate Railroad in 1956 where he worked as a conductor until 1991. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and a Terminal President of BRCF. After retiring, he worked part time for Woodard Photography. Harlan will most be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. With a keen sense of humor, he had the unique ability to connect with people of any age. He was always the perfect host to family and friends. He greatly enjoyed evenings of good conversation, a delicious meal, and a game of dominoes, where he was typically the winner. Skilled in many trades, he was always willing to help others. He was also very knowledgeable about nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Serving as a church elder, Harlan was an active member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall of Bellevue. His faith continues as an inspiration to many. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Joanna Frederick; his three children, Diane (Raynard) Buckner, Guy (Earlene) Frederick both of Bellevue, Dean (Kelly) Frederick of Gilbert, South Carolina; sister, Donna McKeaver (Merle) of Fostoria; father-in-law, Clifton Cook of Bellevue. His memory will also be cherished by his 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Sarah Cook, brother, Willard Frederick, and sister, Marigene Meyers. Friends may call from 10 a.m., Friday, August, 23, until the 12 p.m. service at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia Street, Bellevue. Interment will follow at Strongs Ridge Cemetery.
