Dorothy Peters

Dorothy Peters, age 100, of Vickery, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Bowling Green, Ohio. Born on March 20, 1926, in Clyde, Ohio, Dorothy was a loving, resilient, creative, and supportive woman who wore many hats throughout her lifetime. She was an incredible pillar of strength and an inspiration to all who knew her.

In 1945, Dorothy married the love of her life, William Peters, and together they raised three beautiful children, Edwin, Frank, and Kathlyn. Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother, and despite the many roles she played, her family and her faith always remained her greatest priorities. She was a proud member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Vickery, where she served in several positions.

Dorothy was a master multi-tasker who balanced her duties as a farmer's wife and mother with a successful career at the Vickery Post Office. Over her more than 25 years of service, she earned her way up to the position of Post Master, a role she held for the last 15 years before her retirement in 1989. Dorothy's creative spirit found expression in her love for pencil art, sewing, crochet, and gardening. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and designing her home. She was an active member of the community, participating in the We-R Mothers Club, Farm Bureau Council, Townsend Twp Fire Auxiliary, and volunteering with Hospice.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Edwin Peters, Frank (Debby) Peters and her daughter, Kathy Bandy, seven grandchildren, 17 great grand children, seven great great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Ernie (Kay) Bouyack, and her sister, Lois Bradford and more than 30 nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William Peters, her parents, William and Elsie Bouyack, and her siblings Clara Hemminger, Hilda Wollenslegel, Herbert Bouyack, Joan Rogers, and Janet Parkhurst and son-in-law, Timothy Bandy.

Visitation will be held 3pm - 7pm, Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 South Main Street, Clyde, Ohio, 43410. The funeral service will be held on 11am, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1320 County Road 268, Vickery, Ohio, 43464. Memorial contributions in honor of Dorothy Peters may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or to a hospice of your choice.
