Carolyn R. Leonard

–

Fremont, Ohio

Carolyn Ruth Leonard, 69, of Fremont, Ohio, died on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. She was born on July 28, 1957, in Bellevue, Ohio, the beloved daughter of Ted and Pauline Leonard. Carolyn grew up in Clyde, Ohio and graduated from Clyde High School in 1975. After that she earned an Associate's Degree from Terra Technical College, then worked as a Case worker for the Social Security Administration for 40 years, in both Fremont and Sandusky.

After she retired, Carolyn worked for a couple of years at the Birchard Public Library of Sandusky County.

Carolyn was a loyal, generous and compassionate woman who loved her family, her cats, baseball, scary movies and baking. She was an enthusiastic and lifelong fan of the Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Browns, and played euchre regularly with friends. She enjoyed watching the Great British Bakeoff, which inspired her own creative baking, especially at Halloween.

But Carolyn's greatest love was her family, especially her brothers and her nieces and nephews. She loved them all deeply, as she did her cats, Grady, Desi and Archie, all of whom survive her.

She was known affectionately to many of her nieces and nephews as 'Carenet.'

Carolyn is survived by her brothers, Ted (Cherylann, née Pearlman) Leonard of Marblehead and Kurtis (Michelle Reiter) Leonard of Port Clinton; a nephew, Eric Leonard; nieces, Rachel Cox, Gillian Hutchins, Elyse Jones, Melanie Jones, Jamie Leonard and Alison Leonard. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 25th from 4-7pm in the Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde, OH. A Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26th at 1:00pm in the funeral home. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate the service. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the humane society of your choice, a cause close to Carolyn's heart.

Carolyn will be deeply missed. We invite you to leave memories and upload photos to the memorial page, a space created to honor Carolyn's life and legacy.
