Bertha "Bunny" (Kennersley) Brooks Obituary (1930

Bertha "Bunny" Brooks. 89, of Clyde, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Heritage Village, Clyde, her family with her. Bunny was born in Bellevue on August 25, 1930 to the now deceased Howard and Irene (Smith) Kennersley. She graduated from East High School, Cleveland in 1948. On July 21, 1956, she married Herbert R. Brooks. After their marriage, Bunny had her own beauty salon in Cleveland, until the birth of their first daughter. She then became a full time mother and wife. She and Herb moved to Clyde in 1962. After her mother needed to leave the Brooks' family home for more care, Bunny worked as an aide at the former Eshleman Nursing Home to help care for her mother. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clyde, where she remained active, as long as health permitted, with volunteering with altar flowers and in the kitchen. She was also a member of the former Progress Club; welcome Wagon and Women's Clyde. In the past, she had helped with story time at the Clyde Public Library. Bunny enjoyed crocheting, but her favorite activity was anything in the kitchen; cooking, canning, baking and freezing. She was know for her cream puffs and her cookie trays at her holiday party. Survivors include her husband, Herb and their three daughters, Kimberly Daniel of Marblehead; Kathy (Al) Mehlow of Fremont and Kelly (Greg) Darr of Marblehead. Three grandsons, Cole(Sarah) Daniel; Chris (Lindsay) Daniel; and A.J. Mehlow, along with six great grandchildren and one sister, Nancy Mudra of Lexington, also survive. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Nicholas R. Darr and sister, Joann Kennersley. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 2-5:00 pm at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St., Clyde, Ohio. The funeral will be on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Kovach officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Nicolas R. Darr Memorial Scholarship Fund through the family or Croghan Colonial Bank or Promedica Hospice or the Donor's Choice.
